PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION 2008
Under the authority of the Executive Committee of the Theosophical
Society, I hereby certify that, in accordance with Rule 10 of the
Rules and Regulations of the said Society, the Election Committee
appointed by the Executive Committee counted the results of the
voting communicated to the International Secretary by the General
Secretaries of National Societies and Sections, Regional and
Organizing Secretaries, Presidential Representatives and the votes of
Lodges and Fellows-at-Large attached to Headquarters. The Executive
Committee checked them and declared the result as follows:
Dr John Algeo 4,323 votes
Mrs Radha Burnier 8,560 votes
Mary Anderson
International Secretary

It wasn’t even a close call then. Hope Radha makes it through those coming years healthy.
I’ve just added a breakdown of the results to the Documents pages of this site.
They can also be found here at teozofija.
Thanks to Anton Rozman for providing.
WOW. The TSA membership has dropped by over 50% in only a few years?
No, there is a difference between total members, and those who are able to vote. The current membership is a little less than 4000.
No, membership has not dropped dramatically. We haven’t been over 4,000 members for many years. And of those 4,000 it is typical for only a portion of them to stay in the T.S. long enough to be eligible to vote.
I’ll ask Olcott for some more specific stats and trends in membership and create a separate post to discuss them.
For me, the key issue revealed by the international election numbers is that of the 21,000 eligible voters in the world, 9,000 of them are in India. U.S.A. is a distant 2nd, with Italy the only other country above 1,000. I had no idea representation was so disproportionate.
Basically, no one can win without India.
