Welcome to the Theosophical Society blog.
Just as my other blog is intended to provide a space for theosophical voices, this blog is intended as a forum for discussing institutional matters.
I avoid discussing myself in other theosophical venues. Generally, I think the personality or stories of authors are secondary to the material. When discussing an organization, however, the particular perspective of the writer is relevant.
Therefore, I will say that I have been an active member of the Theosophical Society in America (National Headquarters in Wheaton; International Headquarters in Adyar) for 13 years. I have lived and worked at Olcott, am the former National Coordinator of the Young Theosophists Movement and have served two terms as the Central District Director on the T.S.A. Board. I have led study groups, taught classes, given lectures and arranged seminars, meetings and retreats at various centers across the country. I have a degree in Philosophy and am currently taking classes in Nonprofit Management. I am 32 years old.
My concern is with the health and vitality of the Theosophical Society and I firmly believe in the motto ‘There Is No Religion Higher Than Truth’. As was recently pointed out to me by one of my mentors, theosophy itself will survive any institutional issues that may seem to threaten it. I hope we can all keep that in mind.
Nonetheless, I do believe that an open discussion about institutional issues, if moderated, can provide beneficial transparency and dialogue. Moderation is important due to the seemingly inevitable inflammatory rhetoric endemic to online forums. I will do my best to be fair and provide equal opportunity to all voices.
